Global Strings in High Density QCD
نویسندگان
چکیده
We show that several types of global strings occur in colour superconducting quark matter due to the spontaneous violation of relevant U(1) symmetries. These include the baryon U(1)B , and approximate axial U(1)A symmetries as well as an approximate U(1)S arising from kaon condensation. We discuss some general properties of these strings and their interactions. In particular, we demonstrate that the U(1)A strings behave as superconducting strings. We draw some parallels between these strings and global cosmological strings and discuss some possible implications of these strings to the physics in neutron star cores.

A Fast and Accurate Global Maximum Power Point Tracking Method for Solar Strings under Partial Shading Conditions
This paper presents a model-based approach for the global maximum power point (GMPP) tracking of solar strings under partial shading conditions. In the proposed method, the GMPP voltage is estimated without any need to solve numerically the implicit and nonlinear equations of the photovoltaic (PV) string model. In contrast to the existing methods in which first the locations of all the local pe...
متن کاملNon-Abelian Strings in High Density QCD: Zero Modes and Interactions
The most fundamental strings in high density color superconductivity are the non-Abelian semi-superfluid strings which have color gauge flux tube but behave as superfluid vortices in the energetic point of view. We show that in addition to the usual translational zero modes, these vortices have normalizable orientational zero modes in the internal space, associated with the color-flavor locking...

Asymptotic Freedom and Dirichlet String Theory
Fixed angle scattering at high energy in a string theory with boundaries satisfying Dirichlet conditions (Dirichlet strings) inD = 4 is shown to have logarithmic dependence on energy, in addition to the power-like behavior known before. High temperature free energy also depends logarithmically on temperature. Such a result could provide a matching mechanism between strings at long distance and ...
متن کاملConfining flux tubes in a current algebra approach.
We describe flux tubes and their interactions in a low energy sigma model induced by SU(Nf ) → SO(Nf ) flavor symmetry breaking in SO(Nc) QCD. Unlike standard QCD, this model allows gauge confinement to manifest itself in the low energy theory, which has unscreened spinor color sources and global Z2 flux tubes. We construct the flux tubes and show how they mediate the confinement of spinor sour...
